Cannon Camera?

Question

My camera was dropped and now my 18-55mm lens will not fully rotate back to the 18 mark. its slightly bent..It feels really tight when turning. Is there anything I can do to fix this. or if i get it repaired anyone knw how much it will cost?

Todays digital lens are mostly made of plastic and to try and fix one thats out of shape is impossible. If however you still get good pictures, at  where ever the lens will zoom too, just leave it or look on e bay for a replacement.

You could maybe get it repaired... but the cost of repairing it might exceed the actual cost of a cheaper lens like that. It might be time to buy a new lens.

Cameras are very carefully-made pieces of machinery. You've got to be gentle. ALWAYS wear your neck strap. ALWAYS.

Sorry :( but look on the bright side: now you have an excuse to get that new lens that you've been wanting.

I had the same problem and had to retire my lens (sniff).

Find a good camera shop that does repairs onsite, and good luck.

Hi Sonia.  Sorry about your lens   :( ...  sorry about my lens, too... as this same thing happened to me several months ago.   I was disappointed... but not overly upset,  as these are not really that good of quality lenses... made in China... mostly plastic construction.    I decided not to have my camera repair tech look at it, as even though it might not be damaged beyond repair,  it is an ordeal to take the lens apart.   Alot of the repair fee is in the labor.    You probably should take it in to a camera repair shop.  Ask the technician for an evaluation of the damage and an estimate of the repair costs.   This way you can know if you want to spend the money on that lens or get another one.    I did use the 18-55 for some particular uses,  but it is not the one I normally shoot with.  I prefer the 28-200mm for almost all of the shooting I do,  so I really have not missed the 18-55mm at all.   Thanks for taking the time to read my answer.  Hope it helped.
