Cannondale F7 Mountian bike shocks?

i Just got a Cannondale f7 and on the top of the front shocks there is a k**b you can turn and it says "preloading" and you can turn it to the + or - side and i was wondering what this is?

  1. There is a setting that is taken when you're sitting on the bike - Static Sag.  Translated to common english, it means - suspension droop while sitting still.

    That k**b is to bring the "sag" into the proper range so the fork doesn't bottom out.

    The travel of the suspension is know as "travel." This is how far the fork goes in, all the way compressed.

    Rules for sag...  100mm - 1/4" of sag, 110 - 3/8" of sag, 120mm - 1/2" of sag.
