Question:

Cannondale Synapse Feminine Carbon VS Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder?

My new ride is a Cannondale Synapse Feminine Carbon 3, with Shimano Ultegra SL Compact, 34/50 crank and a Shimano Ultegra 12-27 rear cog. While Yin drives a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder with a 3.8L engine (260 hp @ 5,750 rpm, 258 lb.-ft. @ 4,500 rpm) and a nifty sequential-shift 5-speed automatic transmission.

On a serious sprint, from 0 – 40 mph, do I stand a chance to out sprint on an open straightaway, flat road?

  1. Yin got rid of her honda? Now she can out run you even more. You will have her across the intersection but after 60 feet she will be at 30 mph and accelerating.

  2. no way you would beat it off the line but a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder will hit 60mph in about 6 seconds with the specs above. You can't get to 40mph in 4 seconds and you certainly can't hold 40mph for very long 200m sprint times are between 10 and 12 seconds the spider would be at 90 before you hit 40.

  3. None!

Are you even capable of a 40 mph sprint?

With a 50/12 gear combo what would your cadence be at 40mph?

  4. This is a joke, right?

  5. Not a chance.

  6. Kate you are going to need some help. When you and Yin line up make sure in front of Yin's tires is about 10 gallons of water, if Yin can't get any traction you might stand a chance.

  7. Only if its the day BEFORE payday, when she can't afford to put gas in it.
