Ive been thinking of buying a bicycle, a cannondale probably. been a fan eversince and i know how much one will cost if i buy a complete set. isit advisable that i buy part by part, meaning the frame first and then the fork and wheel, etc and assemble it according to our own preference? like how we build and install components to our home DIY pc. isit much cheaper that way?.. any opinion or suggestion appreciated, thanks =)

  1. Buying a bike piece by piece would cost you several times as much as buying a complete bike.

  2. Nope, it's not cheaper that way, because you have to buy parts piecemeal from different stores that do not have the same profit margins. The only thing good about it is that you have the SATISFACTION of doing it yourself. Plus the assurance that you have put quality parts in your bike......

  3. Its always cheaper to buy a complete bike.

  4. It would be way cheaper to buy a complete bike and replace the components you want.  If you want to save more money you can probably take the parts you remove and sell them to recoup some of your expenses.
