My desktop computer is running XP incase that matters lol.

We don't need a modem we just have 1a router that control all our internet and cable.

I dont think the computer has wireless but it is connected to the modem via a yellow cord lol.

It never needed a connection made to connect to internet.

Can anyone help me fix it?

  1. I am going to give you loose directions on this.  Message me for more detailed instructions if needs.  Follow this:

    >Tools

    >internet options

    >connections

    >click button that says

    "Never dial a connection"

See if this works.  It is much easier if I did it myself.

  2. Who is your ISP? And have you ran the cd for the router?

  3. Couple of things, are there any other computers or games consoles that are connected via wire? Try connecting directly to the cable modem if it is a separate unit from your router. If it doesn't come up then, I would check the cable (the yellow one) or/and the next step. From your desktop right mouse click on "my network places" and select properties. You should see an icon that says local area connection. Click on it one time and on the left side of that window you should see a detaila pane. It should say something other than disabled. If it says disabled, right mouse click on the icon and enable it.
