  1. i work in an er and we had this exact issue come in yesterday. the doctor said you don't have to wait 7 days to do the treatment. do it every day if you can.

you're probably going to have to throw away all the blankets, etc if there are actual lice in them. make sure you're putting protective covers on the pillows (they're like plastic pillow cases) and washing the linens EVERY day.

you'll have to throw away stuffed animals. don't bother keeping anything that has 'stuffing'. like the other person said, you might be picking it up from another place. do they go to day care? do you have a pet? maybe you should get the carpet and furniture professionally cleaned, or at least rent a cleaner from Lowe's or something...

also, you might have to cut the girl's hair. it's sad, but long hair can have issues with holding on to lice forever.

I worked in a preschool, and my parents were foster parents. we had lice issues witht he kids at both places, all the time. Once, I had a parent cut all her daughter's hair off because it was 3 weeks and she could not get rid of it...and cutting her hair (like, almost to the scalp) was what worked.

make sure you check all possible reasons before you do the cutting!

    hope that helps...

  2. are you doing the follow up treatment that needs to be done 7 days later after the first treatment on the head??? Obviously if they keep coming back and you are not getting rid of them either they are not being treated well enough at home or you are bringing them back home from somewhere else. If there is absolutely no way you could have missed any place in the home, contact the dr and they might be able to help you get rid of them by prescription for your head... but treat the house and furniture a few times a day... it will cost a little bit of money but to get rid of them it is worth it...

  3. Try mayonnaise on your hair...it will smother the lice..if they are still alive. And what works is having someone sit and pick every nit out. That is what i had to have done, the last time i got it.

The mayo will make the hair greasy (it also is a home remedy to add moisture to your hair) which will in turn make it easier to get the nits out.

If not, there is a lice treatment at health food stores. It smells like black licorice and it works great!!  You can also change your shampoos to anything with coconut in it. Lice hate coconut and the smell...that should help prevent them.  I think Suave makes a coconut smelling shampoo.

    Good luck

  4. We had this same problem unlike what someone else said you don't have to throw away the stuffed animals just put them into a plastic bag for a few weeks also put full fat mayonnaise on you hair the real stuff not the light or the miracle whip smother your hair with it and then cover with saran wrap over night then comb out your hair with one of the metal lice combs (the plastic don't work) with the mayo still in it that will make it easier repeat every night for at least a week along with washing everything in hot water everyday and don't forget about hats or the backs of jackets in the collar and last do not let the stuffed animals out of those bags for at least a few weeks and then still put them through the hot setting in the dryer

Hope this helps you get rid of then for good

  5. Keep combing out the nits with a fine tooth comb. One thing we tried on a 2 year old boy with short hair was condition his hair and let the conditioner dry it worked for him.Leave in for about 1 1/2 hours.

  6. Having read the other comments there are some truths and some that aren't. First lice live only on hair-not on bed linens and in the carpet.  To get rid of them, get someone to help you and go outside with a bottle of alcohol (rubbing), a dish, some large cotton balls and a plastic bag to cover your head snugly. Cover your face and have the person start at the scalp and dab the alcohol completely on all of the hair, immediately cover the head with the bag and tie it. Keep it on for 20 minutes and the lice and nits will be killed. Be careful not to breath too much of the alcohol. Good luck.

  7. yooyooo,

Just to add to what has been mentioned.  The lice you are dealing with may be immune to the chemicals in  the treatment you are using and if you are using the comb that came with it or even a cheap one from the store, then you will be leaving nits behind.

You need a great metal nit comb and a shampoo that dissolves the glue that is holding the nits to the hair.  We used NitFree products but you can check outothers.  We just know that the NitFree ones worked amazingly well for us.

    Good luck.

  8. Mayonnaise is supposed to be a good way to get rid of lice. I knew someone who would do it about once a week for about 3 (Just to be absolutely sure it was gone). She said leave is on for about 10-15 mins and then comb it with one of those little lice combs to get the nits out. Keep doing everything you are doing and try the mayo for a couple of weeks.

  9. Have you tried licekiller.com? It is an all natural product, is 100% guaranteed, and it just worked for me and my family.

  10. put maynaise in your hair then wrap it in plastic then leave it on for a couple of hours then was it out.

  11. we had that problem once and realized wasnt cleaning everything.have you tried treating inside the vehicles and the  car seats?curtains, toys, everything has to be done.kitchen chairs, barefloors, pets all has to be done.try putting pillows and mattresses out in direct sunlight for a day .

  12. IF they keep appearing then you are around somebody that is NOT tryin to rid themselves of lice.My sister in law was like that she would NOT try and get rid of them in which everytime we went over there I got it again and I have really thick long hair so its horrible when I get lice! When I found a bug in my daughters hair when she was 2 that was the end of the rope right there I went over there and told her either her nasty a$$ was gonna do something about the bugs in her hair or I was gonna come over a shave her bald whiel she slept!

IF you continue to get them and you can afford it I woud suggest throwing EVERYTHING out...such as brushes ,pillow cases,sheets,etc....IF not then you should shove everything in trashbags spray the c**p out of it all with the lice spray and while washing the stuff go through the house and spray EVERYTHING!!! The carpet, the bed frame...everything.It will be costly but it is SURE to rid you of them. don't even bother with the tea oil because its not always that effective...always use bug spray...you can even get the stuff for bed bugs and spray everything down seeing as it works well for lice in furniture too...make sure to really get the mattress and seating really good even in the creases(which is where most of the focus should go) spray the pillows before putting them in the wash too just as a double check for it. Wash all your clothes really good too seeing as they could live in those also.

I really suggest thinkin aout all the people you and your daughter are around a lot and eliminate one by one who doesn't have it until you are left with who you think does(or know they do) and either suggest they do the same as you and get rid of them or just stop going around the person(people)...if your daughter has friends that she goes around then maybe it would be a good idea to call their parents and let them know that your daughter may(or does) have lice so they can rid their chidren of it too(or maybe they are the ones giving it to your daughter and with you calling they may apologize and fess up to it)

Just keep at it...it can be tough to get rid of them and a pain in the frickin butt, but thats about all you can do.
