Question:

Canon 1100 or 590?

I've narrowed my search for a camera down to the canon sd1100 or the canon sd590.

Both are 8 mp, 2.5" LCD screen, and have image stabilization.

The only difference is I have read about is that the 590 is a bit chunkier, uses AA batteries, and has takes awhile to get another picture after using flash.

Currently the 1100 is only 219.99 while the 590 is 149.99.

I'm using the camera for a road trip so since I already have 2 pairs of rechargable batteries, I wouldn't have to spend more money. But then again I heard that for the 1100, the lithium battery will take at least around 200 pics before the battery dies.

Any suggestions on which one I should get?

  1. If you don't mind the bulky of A590 IS, it is a good choice.  It gives you more control and it is lower price.  If you want a small simple point and shoot camera, SD1100 is your choice.
