  1. Your instruction manual (page 60) shows you how many images you can shoot per 512MB (so, multiply the figures in the table by 16).

From the chart, I can tell you that you can shoot approx.

    2048 high quality jpegs

    768 RAW images

or 416 RAW + high quality jpegs

  2. About 350 RAW or 1500 Jpeg fine. The exact amount depends on the quality setting your shooting on and the amount of information in the photo. To get an idea on how what your shooting can effect the file size take a shot of a plain white wall. Then take a shot with someone standing there. When you load them on your computer you see a big difference in the file size.

  3. it depends on how many Mega Pixels the pics are being taken at.

  4. The speed has nothing to do with how many image files a memory card will hold.

In your owners manual, there will be a chart that tells you how much will fit on a specific card size at the resolution you are using on your camera.  Pick the column that has the resolution you are shooting and if the 8GB is not listed, just do the math

My camera with a 10MP sensor when using a 8GB card will hold 309 images (RAW + JPEG Fine), 417 (RAW + JPEG Basic)
