Canon HG10 question?

I got a canon HG10, one of Canons consumer HD camcorders. I was wondering, what is the mount called that allows you to hook up a on-board boom mic? I need to know so I can make a handle that will hang above the camera, but I need to know what will fit into this slot (correctly!).

  1. Are you referring to the "accessory shoe" on the top of the camera?

Mics like the NRG SA-568 and Audio Technica ATR55 come with accessory-shoe mic clip mounts...

I replaced the mic-clip that came with the mic with a universal shock-mount from Sabra:

I did not notice an accessory shoe on the top of the HG-10, so I would suggest a camera bracket like
