Canon NP-6035 persistent E002. I get a friendly error "E002 Switch the power OFF and ON

I get a friendly error "E002 Switch the power OFF and ON again." Following those instructions yields nothing. It's a bit of an endless loop at this point. Any advice on this one is greatly appreciated!I keep getting Error Code E002. It tells me to turn machine off and on again but the same message keeps coming up. How do I fix this?
