Canon PC 745 error ''8'' plus zigzag. What does...

I was given a Canon PC 745 copier, missing cartridge, which I just replaced with a new one. Turning on unit, an amber code (next to number of prints indicator)) flashes with ''8'' and zigzag. Any idea what this means? I tried to find a manual online but no luck.
