Canon PowerShot A310 Display Problems?

I ma not sure what is wrong with my Canon. When I turn it on to take a picture, the menu options on the LCD monitor still show up, but where the image should be is black with white lines, like a sideways serial bar code. The display still shows the pictures on playback mode, but when I take a picture with the current problems, it appears black with white lines. What is going on?

  1. This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager.  If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways.  This is regardless of your camera's warranty status.  Please check the following two links for more info:
