Hey, I just purchased a Canon Powershot A720 IS today and as I was messing with it the LCD screen just went black. The icons on it show up, but when I take a picture its just black, as if the shutter isn't open or something. Is there a setting I accidentally hit or what? Help please, I'm going to Germany in 4 days and need to get this all worked out.

  1. Turn it ON , try hit Display button once.

  2. If you click the display button it'll show up. (: The display button shows settings, and you can make it black so when you're not taking a picture and you just want to leave it on to be ready for something just hit the display button. it's the bottom left. Well, it says DISP. so you can't miss it. :P

  3. ... and if the DISP button doesn't fix it, it's then likely a defective CCD imager (you can't fix this yourself).  At that point, recommend contacting Canon for warranty repair (1-800-OK-CANON), or exchange the camera if owned less than 30 days (90 days for some retailers).
