Canon Powershot A720 IS or Canon Powershot SX100 IS?

Hi, I'm looking for a new camera, and I'm tossing up between these two cameras as mentioned in the title. I want a camera with a good quality lens and full manual control but an SLR is out of my price range. Does anyone here own any of these cameras? How good are they? Would you recommend something else around the same price range (about $300 AUD). Please and thank you.

The differences are A720 has 6x zoom and SX100 has 10x zoom.  SX100 is also a bit bigger than A720.  I would get SX100 in favor of the 10x zoom.
