Canon Powershot G9 or Sony Alpha 200?

Hi,I need to choose between a canon G9 and Sony Alpha 200.

Does anyone know what is the best for noises reduction and quality?

  1. Buy the Sony A200. The sensor in a DSLR is 7 to 14 times larger than the sensor in a digicam like the G9.

    Actually, IMO, you should consider spending another $100 or so to upgrade to the Sony A300. The A300 has Live View which works with the auto focus. The screen tilts down for those instances where the only way to get the picture is to hold the camera over your head and it tilts up for use at ground level.


  2. There's always less noise with an SLR (the Sony you're looking at).

    The G9 is a souped up point and shoot.

    Both cameras produce great quality shots. You have to ask yourself if you want an SLR or a P&S.

    If a point and shoot is your choice, the Canon is an excellent choice.

    If you want an SLR you might want to consider something other than the Sony. There are better SLRs on the market.

  4. I own both a g9 and the Alpha-100. The DSLR will do bettor in low light shooting.If you are serious about photography sooner or later you will want a DSLR.
