I am trying to buy a camera off eBay (a new one, not used) but I do not know anything about them.

What are megapixels, etc...

I have read good things about the Canon Powershot and am looking to spend around $150....

I just need it to sell on eBay, take on vacations and such.....obviously I am not a professional, but it is getting pretty crummy taking all my pics with my camera phone.

Advice?

  1. Megapixels count for nothing besides how big you want to blow up your photos.  I believe a 5 megapixel or anything above that should do the trick to show photos on a standard 17 inch computer monitor.  I have a Nikon Coolpix L11, I bought it new for 129.99, now they have a better, newer model at the same price at most electronic stores.  It takes extremely good pictures for the cost though.  Here is a link of the photography I have done with it

copy and paste that in the URL, those were all taken with my camera except for the ATV, that was my dad's Canon Powershot.  You can find a powershot used for around $140, but in my opinion, the Nikon Coolpix takes better photos.

    hope this helps!

  2. Look at the Canon a-590. It is a good beginners camera. You can leave it in easy mode and take nice pictures. As you learn more about photography you can go into manual mode and make adjustments as you see fit. It uses AA batteries so you won't get stuck in the wilderness with a camera that needs a charge. $150-$180. I bought one and it seems very nice. And for the price you won't find many camera's with as many features.

  3. Ebay is a risk when buying a cameras. Here a better site to check out that:http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/cl/29/Digit...

    Hope it helps!
