Canon Powershot S5 IS HELP!!!?

Basically I just bought the camera yesterday and ive been reading the Manuel and learnt a couple of things here and there but still have a couple of questions

1) - the image stabilizer does not work tht well for me why is tht? i took a picture in my room and i shook the camera and it came out pretty blurry, the IS on menu is on continous but still comes out blurry

2) - even for the sport mode the image comes out blurry!!! isnt it suppose to be like a still photo ???

  1. No camera is going to work right if you shake it while you are taking a picture!   The IS is to help if your hand is a little unsteady, not if it is really moving.  Use common sense!  

    As for as the sport mode, it depends on what the person is doing.  If they are moving very fast, it still might be blurry.  These helpers don't solve all problems.  

    You  have a nice camera there.  Please don't shake it anymore!   You might damage it.

The IS is only going to compensate for some shakiness in your hands, not for bouncing the camera up and down.  As for the blurriness problems, you need to use a faster shutter speed, which consequently means you will need decent lighting on whatever you're photographing.  Your room, like most indoor places, probably has crummy lighting.

  3. The IS only reduces blurriness and makes it easier to take a picture of something you have zoomed in. Keep reading your manual, trial and error is a good way to learn all the "tricks", To avoid future blurr...make sure you have the right shooting mode and the flash is up.
