Canon Powershot SD550 flash not working

Question

My camera was in a padded case and suffered an impact from about 4 ft high onto ground. All is fine with the camera except it will not function when set to use the flash. I have reset all functions and removed the battery and recharged it, but nothing seems to work. The "red eye reduction lamp" is functioning" but not the flash.
Do you think it is simply broken and cannot be fixed or is there something else I can do to restore flash function.
