Hi Me and my friend are debating who has the better camera overall. I have a Canon Rebel Xti with a Canon 75-300mm lens and a 430ex speedlite. He has a Eos Elan 7 with a tamron 28-105mm.

Thanks!

  1. Hi Taylor.

I will be completely honest with you here.   You have a great camera...  (I have that one, too :)).  Digital / new technology / great resolution / good looking body...  everything nice about your equipment.

Your friend has a great camera....  (I have the EOS 1 Professional)  Film based technology / will have great resolution once the film has been developed / good looking body...  everything nice about his equipment.

How can that be a debate amongst the both of you?   It is like you eating a steak and he is eating lobster.   Most people still believe film is better for image quality - and it probably is...   BUT the issue is that film is not as EASY to use and more expensive than digital imaging.

SO.....  Give the film camera 100% for image quality .....  and

Give the digital camera 100% for convenience and economy.

You both have good cameras....   Go out and take some pictures together... have them printed and then do the comparison.  Good idea???

Thanks for reading.  Have fun shooting.

  2. You certainly have the best lens and best digital camera of the two ... ;>)

The EOS Elan 7 is one of the premier 35 mm cameras made.

You two seem to be arguing about which is the better vehicle .. a Corvette or a 4Runner ... different cameras for different applications.
