    And yes, it'll work. If you go to the HV30 page on B&H, and look on the accessories tab, believe it or not, your battery is listed there.

    It's a third party battery, which may or may not be as good as their Canon counterparts...they are cheaper, so that's a plus. I actually have an Impact battery for my VX2100, (the NP-970 equivalent) and it seems to be working fine, so Impact seems to be a reputable company. One concern is if it'll have a bad "memory effect" or not. For example, with the Sony batteries, they have little memory effect, so you can recharge 'em over and over without losing capacity to hold a full charge.

    I can't tell you if the Impact ones are as good in this respect.

    It's safe to say it'll work on the HV30, and work properly though :)
