I recently got the Canon Vixia HF10, and it is great. My only problem is that I can only download pictures from the camcorder to my computer though iphoto. How am I able to download it to my computer? The imageMixer 3 is for PC only and I would like to get my videos ASAP. For reference I do have Final Cut Express

  1. The Canon HF10 is a flash memory based camcorder that stores very highly compressed AVCHD files.

You can either put the camcorder in the same mode you would if you were connecting the camcorder directly to a HDTV - but connect the camcorder to your Mac using the included USB cable. The camcorder's memory should mount to the Finder desktop like any other mass storage device.

You can also take those memory cards out of the camcorder and use a card reader, instead.

Only the most current version of iMovieHD08 or FinalCut Express4 or FinalCutPro2 can do anything with those AVCHD files - and you Mac must be an Intel-chip based Mac. PPC will not work.

Once the AVCHD data files are copied to your Mac, launch FinalCut. You may need to tell the preferences what sort of video data files it is dealing with before importing... perhaps this helps...
