Canon XH A1 Help me??

Currently ready to buy this camera but am unsure of the reliability/security factor involved when ordering from amazon.com. (am aware of the terms and conditions just after a second opinion)

And also when imported from the states (U.S) to Australia if it requires any different pieces of hardware/software... e.g power point differences for chargers or firewire inputs or any other different connections needed to run/edit.

And any other recommendations/inquires would be most appreciated as im at beginners stage of filmmaking.

  1. If Amazon.com is the vendor, you should be fine. Other good, reputable dealers include bhphotovideo.com and adorama.com. There are probably some others, but I've had good experiences with all three of these (just got a Sony HDR-FX1 from B&H).

    Firewire is firewire No issues.

Power *might* require a tip for the part that plugs in the wall, but the otherwise, the AC adapter is auto switch 110v-220v AC, so no BIG issue there.

If Australia uses something other than NTSC, there could be issues if you want to connect the camcorder to a local TV for playback - if you stay in computers all the time, you will be fine.

Go to Canon.com and download the camcorder's manual - and read up on it before you buy.
