I have a canon ZR 200 camcorder and I can't get it to download video to PC via firewire. I have checked all four firewire ports and they work fine with my iPod. One on the moutherboard and Three on a PCI card. But when I hook up the camcorder nothing at all. I was able to download video about a month ago but my pc crashed and I had to reinstall Windows XP onto my computer but now I can't get the camcorder to conect to the PC. Need help thanks.

  1. a miniDV vcam must be iLink / FIREWIRE400**-connected to pc to upload video thru video capture or video editing* software while vcam is ON PLAYBACK.  Note: DV or Firewire port of vcam is 4pin. Before cable purchase** (Vcam/4pin=>firewireCABLE=>PC (4/ 6pin?), check pc for DV or firewire port, whether 4 or 6 pin. If none, install firewire card: pci for pc or pcmcia for laptop.

  2. Try this:-

Go into Device Manager (Control Panel / System / Hardware)

Expand the IEEE1394 Bus host controllers, right click on the PCI  device and uninstall it.
