  1. Thats funny. I was going to say the Canon G9!!! It is alot of camera, too much for some, for the money! Word.

  2. Personally I like Canon better. I have had my canon camera for over 2 years and I have never had a single problem. Ive dropped it a couple of times and it works fine. My friend had a Nikon and less than under a year for some unknown reason it stopped working. She recently got a Canon and she loves it.

  3. There is nothing wrong with your Nikon ... Everywhere I go, most of the pros are using Nikon's now ... ever since the introduction of the D3.

Both Canon and Nikon make professional quality cameras, but for Pete's sake, don't be intimidated by what others use when they are shooting.

Shoot with your D40 until it is time to buy a new body (four to five years) ... by then you will have a few more lenses and the new Nikon DSLR will have even better features ...

  4. canon for the amateurs

    nikon for the pros

  5. the canon g9 is the greatest camera you will find at the moment.

  6. If the camera does what YOU want it to do and you are happy with it then it does not matter what everyone else uses.

The Canon vs Nikon debate will always rage just as the pc vs mac does.

For general purpose amateur photography then either camera brand (including pentax/fuji etc) is perfectly suitable.

  7. Big name & Brand junkies.

I use Pentax, K110D, and K200D, but I am not worried about it. I know that my cameras are as good as, and in some cases, superior to what you have mentioned.

  8. You've heard of fashion victims, well Canon users are Brand Victims IMHO. The most expensive system and you really can't tell the difference.

  9. I bought a Canon XSi, and sometimes wonder if I should have gotten a Nikon instead. It's impossible to make a major purchase without second-guessing yourself.  But it doesn't bother me; it's all about taking pictures, and I can do that just fine with the Canon. I'm sure I would have felt the same about a Nikon if my decision had gone in that direction.

At any given level, Nikon does some things better than Canon, and vice versa. Both of them make good cameras, and offer a large variety of good lenses. Ignore the partisans and the second thoughts and go make pictures.

  10. It's all down to how the tool feels in your hands,if it doesn't feel right it is harder to use. Both brands are capable of excellent results.

  11. Canon is reliable, I recommend g9.
