Canopy tours in the cloud forest?

The spanish class in my school is going on a trip to Costa Rica next year, and I have the chance to go with. On the schedule of what we would be doing every day of the trip, a canopy tour of the cloud forest in Monterverde is scheduled. I am REALLY afraid of heights, so I was wondering what this was like. I'm not stupid, and I know the whole thing is going to be WAY high up, so I want to hear other peoples opinions of what it is like. If you have ever been on a canopy tour, please tell me your story.

I will choose a best answer, so PLEASE be descriptive.

  1. Your in for the time of your life.  Monteverde has not only zip lines but it is one of the many places in Costa Rica with micro climates.  You will see and experience an opportunity that few get.  The zip line - think of it as flying without wings - I promise you that you will be to busy checking all of the wildlife and views that you won't even notice the heights.  Besides, the best part about Monteverde is their ICE CREAM!!  So, you can reward yourself for a job well done.

  2. hey...

    that's an amazing ride

there is nothing to be afraid off... well, unless you are scared of heights

i haven't done the one at monteverde

but the best for me is the san lorenzo

that one has one of the longest cables

its quite fun cuz you need to take a deep breath to scream and then another no for the rest... lol

go for it, and enjoy the ride

  3. The canopy tour at monteverde is unmissable.  My friend was terrified of heights and she managed it just fine, it's so high up it's sort of misty so it's not like you look down and feel really high up or anything.

  4. I just did the zip line south of Jaco and it was.... amazing. The company was very safe, the equipment was in excellent condition, and the views were amazing. If you are REALLY afraid of heights.... honestly, you could have a problem. You are WAY up there, hundreds of meters above the ground.... although you are flying through the air, so when you are actually on the line you really dont have time to think about how high you are. When you are on the tower, that is a bit of a different story though.
