I have been having unprotected s*x for the past 4 months... with the intention of falling pregnant (obviously)... every month since we started my period has been at least a week late, but i take the test and im not pregnant... I dont understand why my cycle is screwed up, as nothing else would trigger it to go mental...

i know my partner is fertile because his ex fell pregnant just before we got together (long story... dont ask lol) so im not sure. Could i be infertile? i have asked my doctor to do tests but he refuses...

  1. Im not sure how old you are, but if your older than 35, after six months of trying and no pregnancy occurs  then you will be seen by a infertility specialist. If you are under 35, you must try to get pregnant for atleast a year before going to a fertility specialist and getting checkups and why your not become pregnant.

I would suggest to use a ovulation stick every day, after your period to see if you ovulated, once you see a line, make sure to have intercourse that day. But also have intercourse, everyother day, to stay on the safe side, (sperm can live side your body for up to six days).

I dont think your infertile, its just takes some time for some woman to get pregnant and others are just faster in getting pregnant. Give it a try to a year and if you dont concieve go to  a doc.

  2. The stress of trying to concieve could be what is messing with your cycle, it happened to me. Yoga can help. Also try to keep busy. I tried for over a year with no success, then, I moved and had one week to get the house set up and decorated before my family came for a visit. The visit was hectic for a week and then I went on my own vacation for another week. A few days after returning home I found out I was pregnant. All I needed was something to keep my mind off of getting pregnant. Also, if you are over/under weight that can mess with fertility.

  3. keep doing what your doing but forget about getting pregnant the more you try and worry about it the harder it may be... the more relaxed you are during the easier it can be.. also try him goin inside and the elevating your rear with a pillow and your legs agaist the wall for an hour or raise your rear with a pillow and go to sleep. a doctor told my friend not go to the bathroom afterwards for at least an hour.

  4. You are right age is irrelevant!

Most doctors (in Australia) want patients to have been trying for 12 months before they will do the testing.

I say have fun and enjoy your s*x life for the next 6 -8 months, then go back to your doctor.

Alternatively in the mean time, you can purcahse ovulation tests, these will tell you if and when you are ovulating (not always accuratly).

If you are carrying any extra weight, it would be helpful to loose that - doctors in Australia say that loosing as little as 10% if your over weight can increase your chances of falling pregnant.

I dont beleive the whole story about relax it will happen... My husband and I have been trying for almost 4 years now, it is impossible to relax (we have now started ivf), and it doesnt just happen for everyone.

Some people have genuine reasons for it not happening.

Sorry there is no fixed way of making it happen, but keep talking to your doctor and get the tests done as soon as he/she will allow it.

    Good luck.

  5. There isn't a need to start worrying about infertility until you have tried to conceive for a year and still haven't.  It is a good idea though to go to your gyno and get a few test done and see what he recommends.  Start taking prenatal vitamins now and you can try OPKs to find your most fertile days.  Good luck!
