  1. well if you can read music already its a great idea (i tought myself piano and im grade 7) but if you have no experience i would reccomend buying a book all about reading music and understanding it.

  2. There are a lot of videos/dvds on this subject.   Go out there and have fun!

  3. i love the idea that you want to teach yourself.  no, it's not bad but hard - my husband sat down 17 years ago and strummed a guitar- god it was awful but now he plays like an angel.  give it a try and good luck.

  4. better than nothing

  5. it could be because you could mix up things.

  6. it's a fantastic idea! I got myself a saxaphone and couldn't find anyone to teach me (plus couldn't afford the lessons!) so i taught myself! I read books from the library and went online to find out more information on what was what! I can't read music, even after being taught in school, i still can't do it, but i CAN listen to a song and play it almost immediatly! You pick up on thimgs when you teach yourself, you can play around and learn what sounds good and what doesn't! Some of the greatest musicians of all time are self taught so why shouldn't you! x x good luck hun x x x x

  7. ull want to take some kind of music theory class first before you learn itll make u a 10000000000000 times better of a musician and it will be easier

but no its  not a bad idea

    in fact

    go for it

  8. No, its not a possible - certainly possible!!

Make sure you can read music or ask advise from a music teacher say at a school or college or something

Piano is easier to learn than drums, but some previous learning from music helps - i have did it this way, and I now work as Musical Director for shows in my spare time!

    Good luck

  9. it's a good idea..it's always good to teach yourself things..why pay someone when you can do it yourself .

  10. do it mate and good luck

  11. yes and no as long as you can read music first you can play anything so try learning how to read music with guitars have cords drums doesnt well piano is the same as guitar they both have cords so if you no where the cords are and you can read music i cant see a problem

          good luck from richi

  12. some of the best guitar plays taught themselves..look at jimi hendrix and kurt cobain, they learned on their own.

  13. yes because my uncle taught himself and he is really good.

if you research about it you will get to learn more about it and then you will be more experienced about the subject !!!!!

  14. It's not so bad in my experience to learn by various methods other than a tutor.

The problems you are going to encounter is that it is so probable that you are going to develop a few, difficult to reverse, bad habits without a tutor.

Also you may well miss out on some tips and subtleties that most home learning programmes wont offer you.

I would really consider employing a tutor, even if it's just once a month and you have to travel. Just to keep you on track.

You're going to be busy! Good luck.

  15. go ahead

but try one at a time so you dont get confused lol

  16. Other have done it, but I would take a music theory class first. At least be able to read the music and understand what makes a chord. After that you can do it if you have the patience. You may want to start with sheet musicthat you know. Popular songs that you know what they are supposed to sound like.
