Can't boot larger than 8gb hard drive

Question

I have a used evo n800v. I can only boot HD's smaller than 8gb. These were originally shipped with 20 to 60gb HD. The bios settings are VERY limited and there is nothing to change to correct this. I have cleared cmos and flashed the latest bios version but still can't boot larger HD. Thanks for any ideas and help.
