Cant edit .mpg files from HardDrive Camcorder Sony...

Question

Hi I have tried to edit the movie files from my Sony camcorder DCR SR32 but it doesnt work will any of the major movie editors.. adobe premiere or sony's own vegas or windows movie maker.

Can someone please assist me with what is the best way for conversion to avi. I dont want to lose frames or quality.
