Question:

Cant get eardrops into ear canal?

okay, so I have a outer ear infection i already went to the doctor and he cleaned my ear of "cheese" and proscribed me some ear drops. the thing is that the eardrops just stay in my ear, they cant get past the eardrums and into the canal like they are suppossed to what do i do?

  1. You do not want to get past the eardrum from the outside.  That would pierce the eardrum and cause deafness. You would probably cause a severe middle ear infection or worse.  The auditory canal starts on the outside and goes up to the eardrum.  Enough of the canal is probably getting coated with the medication.  Check with the pharmacist or your doctor about the correct application.

  2. yeah i was going to say to clear them out if there was still some ear wax. uhmm hopefully you stay on your side long enough for it to go down. sometimes it goes down just like that sometimes you have to wait for it to settle down like a good couple minutes. if that doesn't work, try and see if your doctor can do something about it.
