Can't get the closed caption on my orion 13 inch.... the menu only has channel set up , picture,

Question

the menu only has channel set up , picture, language and v chip. I cannot find how to get to the closed caption. My remote has a closed caption button but nothing happens when I push it. It is not the original remote.
