Can`t get wireless router to

Can`t get wireless router to connect to pc. Have uninstalled/installed usb wireless adaptor no good. Router works fine on a wired connection on another pc nearby.`Wireless` pc 10m away from router has worked fine on a bt installation. toolbar shows repeated attempts to connect. Help ! Richard
