  1. No, they cannot as it would be a violation of the second law of thermodynamics.  If they could do this they would be a perpetual motion machine.

  2. Nuclear power would be much more efficient than what you are proposing. Are you ready for that?

  3. So far, no. We know that you can separate the hydrogen out of water by running electrical current through it, but at the moment it takes more energy to maintain the electrical current than you get out of the hydrogen.

  4. actually, you can burn saltwater, but the energy that it takes to make the right enviroment is more than you can get from the heat.

  5. ITY IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE

NOT QUITE THE BOND WITH THE OXIGEN IS TOO STRONG TO BREAK

    HOWEVER IT WOULKD BE SWEET.

COUSE YOU COOULD RIG THE LEFT OVER OXYGEN TROUGH THE AIR INTAKE FOR A HOTTER BURN.

  6. Sure, it's POSSIBLE... but right now - it takes more energy to break the molecular bonds in water to create the hydrogen in the quantities you'd need to power a vehicle.

  7. *facepalm*

I cant beleive I share this topic with these ignorant idiots that posted before me. All of your info was right...... back in 1990. Nowdays, thanks to Norway, Hydrogen as a fuel source and electrolosis, have made insane progress. I dont feel like explaining everything on this thread too. Just look through my recent posts under alt fuels and you'll learn alot. If you still want more, email me. I will say this tho, Norway invented a Electrolosis machine the size of a fridge that can split enough H2O and fill a Hydrogen cars fuel cell in a total of close to 3 mins. These machines can easily be powered by wind generators. So yea, catch up to the times, and research before you ramble ignorant nonsence, peace.

Poster, I like you. Your asking questions, wanting to learn. Thank you. I'm just glad your not one of the idiots fooled into Ethanol by "Live Green, Go Yellow". Its was just advertising by GM for their Flex-Fuel cars. Falling for that is like watching a a Coka-Coka commercial and beleiving that polar bears acctually chill up north drinkin Coke, lol.

  8. Breaking the atomic bonds in water to separate the hydrogen requires a ton of energy.  You'd have to input more energy than you will get out by burning the hydrogen for fuel.  Electrolysis is not an efficient process.

  9. Hydrogen is a fuel; water is what you get when you burn hydrogen.  Water isn't a fuel because it doesn't burn.  Just like carbon dioxide isn't a fuel; it's what you get when you burn carbon.
