Cant keep my hands up?

when i am hitting the heavy bag, (after shadow boxing, sparring and jump rope) i cant keep my left hand up. it just gives out and jab becomes really weak. I tend to throw a lot of jabs.

is there anyway i can work on this maybe shadowbox with 5lbs dumbells or something to make sure my left hand stays up. or is this just one of those things that practice makes perfect.

I do weight training for my shoulders so its not that they are weak its just i cant keep my left hand up. I am good with the right hand tho because it kinda just rests near my chin.

  1. Well i actually do wat you do by shadowboxing with 5lb dumbells cause it does tend to help you remind you to keep your hannds up. Not only are you building hand speed but you're also fighting the fatigue to hold the weights up as if you were sparring or in a real match. But as you were saying, u have trouble keeping you left hand up? Hmm...are your elbows tucked into your body? It's the easiest thing to do to keep both your hands up high. If your elbows are tucked into your body, yours hands or shoulders do not get fatigue as quickly because your not wasting that much energy like if you were just holding your hands up and gravity is pulling your hands down. Or you could find a partner or trainer who will hold the mitts for you and have them constantly throwing right hooks to your head. So eveytime you get hit in the head by their right hook, it reminds you to keep your left hand up and block the punch.

  2. No one have a balanced body . all you have to do is to keep trying .but remember that use same weight for both hands even if it is to light for one of them and after a few days the left one which was week will be the same as the right one

  3. This is a stamina problem and instead of focusing just on your arms you need to adresss it by more cardio. eg skipping, rowing.

  4. It's all about habit try touching your chin with your thumb constantly all the time when your shadowing or on the heavy bag speedbag and sparring soon it'll be a habit I can't see where your so worn out on one side that you can't keep your hands up if that's the case keep your chin tucked!

  5. one thing a trainer recommended to me is that when you're working the speed bag and bring your hand back after hitting bring it back right back and up next to your face.  a lot of people will hit the speed bag and drop their non-striking hand.  this might help too.

  6. x2 with sam that's what i was gonna suggest
