Can't scan!!! Canon MX310

Question

I've scanned with this printer before..for some reason it's not working now.Everything is plugged in & turned on. The error message reads:Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check Status.Scanner driver will be closed.Has anyone had this problem? Thank you.
