Cant seem to make any friends?

this is my second year in new school i m junior. i m hating i cant seem to find any friends well i got 1 or 2 in clases but they stay with their other friends. so i just sit alone all lunch staring at ppl. please any tips i can make friends. o yea i m indian with turban so its hard some people i dont know might hate me to be their friends. so any help please..??

That is tough, but not so tough.  You need to actually do the same things and activities that others do.  So join clubs, whether reading or chess for example, music or sports.  When you're in the club, you're in the club!

maybe you could join some clubs

what are your interests? hobbies?

join the after school clubs or sports and meet people that way

maybe even a part time job outside of school can help you meet people your age from your school

just remember to be yourself and not a conformist

just walk up to people and ask to sit with them and start a conversation!! yes it may be difficult at first but if you want friends you have to go through these measures!! a social life is very helpful for a teen boy!

find some groups to get into. band, chorus, chess club, sports etc.

I think it's really too bad that no one has taken it upon themselves to help you out or get to know you, doesn't say a lot for your school's attitude. I know my friends and I always tried to reach out. I would suggest maybe joining a club? Most schools have a variety, from sports to musical activities, service clubs are fun, and I was even in a club that linked international students with local ones. Maybe if you talk to a teacher or school counselor, they can recommend an activity for you. Or you could try to get a job somewhere and maybe make friends with your co-workers, AND make money : )

Don't be afraid to approach people. If you see someone who seems nice, try going up to talk to them. People are usually thrilled to have new friends - and a lot of people would find it really interesting to meet someone from a different background.

Keep your head high and have confidence in yourself. It will really attract people to you.

It's probably like when you are at a party and find out you are talking to a pastor - suddenly everyone feels like they have to be on their best behavior. People probably are not sure what is acceptable or not acceptable to joke around about or if you will get offended. There was a guy in my school that had a turban. He was really intelligent and hung out alot with the "nerdy" kids that were in his classes, but seemed to have found his niche and was well adjusted and later outgoing.  I think when he opened up and joked around in class it helped take away people's assumptions.
