Alright. just got a 2005 mean streak and overfilled it with fully synthetic motor oil. Dont know if that has anything to do with my problem but the thing is after i run the motorcycle up to 35 or 40 mph and then come to a stop it wont let me downshift into 1st. it will only let me down shift into 2nd. Then I have to rev the engine so i dont stall when i start off in 2nd gear. This never happens if I am only staying in 1st or second gear for instance if i am practicing turns in a parking lot. could the oil have anything to do with it? not sure what i should do?

  1. Sounds to me like a gearbox problem, not an oil problem. I think you would know if it was an oil problem, haha!

  2. oil would effect every gear or clutch.

    check linkage tight and lubed.

could be internal shift forks. did it have this problem before?

could be you, are you down shifting as you come to a stop, alot of bikes want some movement to easily shift more then 1 gear at a time.
