Bus Lanes are needed where there are several buses traveling along the road at regular intervals. Pointless putting them where there are only a few buses. Most only operate between 7-10am anyway.

Well a lot of the congestion in newcastle is caused by these stupid things, they are a waste of time but i can't see them admitting they were wrong this government would never do that!

There are quite a few aimee with the great north road being one of the worst!

In my experience bus lanes are only effective if people are using the buses and the only place you always seem to see full buses is London. Outside of London the public transport system is c**p which means that the only choice most people have for safe reliable transportation is to use their own vehicle.

One of the roads I travel to work on has a bus lane on it, it is the most congested road in the vicinity and I have seen 1 bus use it in 18 months. Pisses me off.

No because Bus provide public transport that are for those that cannot use a car for whatever reasons. The service also cuts down on Carbon emissions. Thus the government will encourage people to use public transport by making it more efficient than using your own car by placing bus lanes.
