  1. What happened to good old metal cutlery that can be autoclaved and plates that ...... shock horror had to be washed!  What an absolute idiom of modern society both lazy and not think about anybody else other than than themselves.

  2. Please, not again!

  3. either get some compostable cutlery and plates or get reusiable ones.

  4. Sometimes recycling uses far more energy than re-use. In this way recycling may end up damaging the environment more than we think. Recycling plastic ends up using alot of energy.

We would probably be better off using stainless steel cutlery and paper plates or corning ware. You could place the paper plates in a composter after use.

  5. Polystyrene is pure evil and nigh impossible to recycle. The cutlery can be recyled but needs to be collected by a special contractor. At our work they take the plastic cups away in a special collector.

  6. all organisations should be making efforts to recycle as much as possible (or of course use reusable items where possible). councils are putting pressure on households to reduce their levels of waste, but large organisations could make a huge difference if they made an effort too - they are probably producing more waste in a day than many households do in a week. i would recommend speaking or writing to the managers of the canteen, or failing that someone higher up in the hospital. after that your mp or local councillor, to put it to them. also consider collecting signatures on a petition and handing it to them, or writing to your local ( or national) paper, as public humiliation can sometimes be the 'carrot' that is needed in cases like this

  7. i think they should recycle it and you should talk to them about it.
