Question:

Canteens for Bottled Water Alternatives?

Hey all,

I've been looking for a canteen in order to cut back on my use of plastic bottles. Preferably lined or aluminum ones so the water's taste doesn't get affected by what's in the bottle.

I've found ones at kleankanteen.com, newwaveenviro.com, and mysigg.com. So far I really like the ones at mysigg.com. But are there any other sites or stores out there that provide a long-lasting alternative like this? I'm looking for a canteen specifically, and not just any old water bottle.

Thanks a bunch!

  1. The Boy Scouts of America currently lists and sell several varieties of nice aluminum canteens, although I'm partial to my vintage 1973 BSA belt-clip canteen.

  2. I have a mysigg and a kleankanteen and are currently comparing the two. Some people prefer steel (kleankanteen type) as the aluminum ones need to be coated with an epoxy resin in order to stop the leaching of the aluminum into the water. I haven't tried them long enough to compare the difference though, sorry!

  3. If is is a hot beverage or if you like coffee shops then consider a cup from Starbucks, the are not too much money about $10-$14 - they are worth it.
