An unbeaten half-century from Gareth Andrew propelled the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canterbury-c775 Wizards to a 4-wicket win over the Central Districts Stags, in their match during the ongoing HRV Cup, played today on January 1, 2013, at the Saxton Oval in Nelson.
The match kicked off with the Stags winning the toss and choosing to bat first, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Claydon-c1973 (4-0-25-3) and Logan van Beek (4-0-28-2) ensured that the Central Districts’ batsmen were kept in check.

but skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kieran-Noema-Barnett-c71440 (36) managed to team up with Sinclair for a 54-run partnership for the third wicket.
The skipper was eventually dislodged by van Beek, and by the time Sinclair made his exit, sent packing by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kruger-van-Wyk-c1811 (12), and Adam Milne (11*) were the only
other batsmen who managed to progress beyond single figures – the rest collapsed without putting up a fight, and the Stags posted a final total of 152 by the end of 20 overs.
The target, however, did not pose any difficulties for the Wizards, who managed to safely reach 153 within 19 overs, at the expense of 6 wickets.
Opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Herrick-Worker-c59349 (33) steadied the team with a 33-run second-wicket partnership. Their stand came to an end with the dismissal of Cachopa via run out in the 8th
over, and Worker followed suit two overs later, dismissed by Marty Kain.
Wicketkeeper skipper Tom Latham (6) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 Beek (4*), and
Canterbury eventually made their way up to 153, with 4 wickets and 7 balls remaining.
