Canterbury v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Otago-c829 – HRV Cup, 2012/13 – Match Update – Otago clinch narrow 1-run win
The Otago Volts’ Ian http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RN-ten-Doeschate-c2338 applied strict checks on the Canterbury Wizards’ batsmen and managed to secure a close 1-run victory in their HRV Cup match, played today on December 27 at the Aorangi Oval in Timaru.
The match commenced with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 Beek, all of whom
picked up one wicket each. However, despite their efforts, the Volts managed to post a formidable total of 196 by the end of 20 overs.
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iain-Anthony-Robertson-c63723 (16) managed to steady the innings with a second-wicket partnership worth 39 runs.
Their combined efforts got the team up to 47, after which Robertson was snapped up by McCone, while the 8th over saw both Rutherford and skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sam-Wells-c2422 (12) making their exits – the former run out, and the latter swept off the pitch by Astle.
By this time, the Volts were at 70 for 4, but Ryan ten Doeschate (47) and wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Gordon-Bracewell-c75912 (61) set up a massive 101-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
By the time ten Doeschate made his exit off McCone, the team total had climbed up to 171. His successor http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IG-Butler-c1575 (2) departed after being dismissed by Claydon, while Bracewell was finally dislodged by van Beek. By the end of 20 overs, with 7 wickets down

Otago maintained a similar momentum during the Wizards' turn at bat, and ten Doeschate (3-0-27-2) and Butler (4-0-36-2), aided by Fuller, Craig, and Jacob Duffy (all of whom picked up one scalp each), succeeded in cutting Canterbury off just one run short.
The main contributions came from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Todd-Astle-c2697 (26), but by the end of 20 overs, the Wizards had only reached 195, and the Volts ended by securing a 1-run victory.
