Canu put a hermit crab in water?

i was just wondering if you could put a hermit crab in water because i got a new one and i wanna put it in water

Yes you can put them in water that how you are supposed to "bathe" them I had one before I bought it from out at the mall for 20 dollars they were the ones with the design on their shells. But i think you can only leave them in there for certain time period like one to two minutes. I had mines when I was about ten and Im sixteen now. It died tho when I was thirteen. It had got really big tho.

A marine hermit crab needs to be kept in a saltwater aquarium.

A land hermit crab definitely can't be kept underwater; they will drown if they can't climb out.

You really need to figure out which type you have and set up its habitat accordingly, or it will suffer and die. Don't randomly try to experiment with the poor thing.

Wihout knowing anything about what it looks like, I'm going to guess you most likely have a species of land hermit crab, because those are the most commonly sold in pet stores. If that's the case, here are a bunch of websites with excellent good care info that will help you keep him healthy and comfortable. I can almost 100% guarantee that whatever they told you at the pet store is blatantly wrong, so if you care at all about keeping your land hermit crab alive, please check out these sources. The first link also has a forum with advice for keeping marine hermit crabs if you turn out to have a marine hermit crab instead.

you can but you need a place where it can come out of the water or it won't live very long in the water or it will end up in your filter
