Cao Yuan and Zhang Yanquan of China went home swelling with pride after capturing gold medal of the Men’s Synchronised 10m Platform on day four of the 18th Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA) Visa Diving World Cup 2012 at the Aquatics Centre, Olympic Park in London on Thursday, February 23.
The Chinese pair stunned the arena with their remarkable form in the 10m discipline. With their relentless efforts, they sustained their top qualification spot and smothered all efforts of their challengers by occupying top position of the event.
The Diving World Cup is of utmost importance as it precedes the 2012 London Olympic Games and provides a chance to international players to overcome their deficiencies before the upcoming mega event.
Yuan and Yanquan displayed their phenomenal efforts and earned gold medal of the event with a fascinating effort of 481.29 points. He was trailed by Ivan Alejandro Garcia and German Sanchez of Mexico, who followed them on the podium for silver medal by accomplishing 460.17 points.
The third spot of the event was seized by Patrick Hausding and Sascha Klein of Germany, who elevated their efforts in the playoff and gathered bronze medal of the event with an effort of 457.41 points.
David Boudia and Nick McCrory of USA sustained their fourth qualification spot of the event as they remained nearly thirteen points behind the bronze medallist and settled on the overall rankings list with a struggle of 444.93 points.
The fourth position holders were chased by Jeinkler Aguirre and Jose A. Guerra of Cuba, who were almost twelve points behind and achieved a total of 432.30 points. They were chased by Russia’s Illya Zakharov and Victor Minibaev, who were just 0.03 points behind and gained sixth spot of the event with a score of 432.27 points.
Great Britain’s Thomas Daley and Peter Waterfield transpired as the seventh position holders of the discipline as they notched up 419.97 points.
The session ended after the conclusion of all scheduled events whereas the winners were awarded accolades for their dazzling efforts in 10m discipline at the prize distribution ceremony of the session.
