Real Mallorca coach, Joaquin Caparros, has admitted that his team’s encounter with Athletic Bilbao is a must-win game for his side.
Mallorca are on the verge of slipping to the relegation zone as they could not manage to win a single game in their last 10 matches. In the midweek, they were heavily defeated by Sevilla in the Copa del Rey as they lost 5-0.
The pressure is surely building up for Mallorca and now their coach is on the spot light as many have suggested that his future in the club is uncertain.
That is why Caparros believes the encounter with Bilbao is a must-win for his struggling side.
The former Bilbao boss gave his opinion on the goodwill his team receives from their faithful fans in the city. However, he urged his players to reciprocate that and start picking up points in order to save their season.
“It’s not the end of an era against Athletic, but we have to win,” the 57-year-old told assembled journalists. “It’s very important to get the three points.”
“I see in the city a good disposition towards us, but we have to give arguments to support that against Athletic.”
The Spanish tactician has also remarked on his opponents who are also in their own struggle in the Primera Division.
Having already been eliminated from Europe, they were again knocked out of the Copa del Rey by the minnows, Eibar.

“We’re facing a lot of quality. Athletic have a great Coach and players who are always 100 per cent committed.”
Finally, the 57-year-old concluded his remarks and stated that they must do something about the number of goals his team is conceding.
“The diagnosis is clear, we’re conceding a lot of goals, and must reduce those numbers so we can take advantage of our chances over 90 minutes.”
At the moment, Mallorca are fourth from bottom with just 13 points.
