Capasitors what do they do?

OK i know they store energy between plates but like lets to say i am making a amp how dose it affect it would it sound different with out them i want to know how they affect thing not just the general physics

  1. There are a number of ways a capacitor can affect an amp.

    In the power supply, the capacitors help convert the AC to DC by getting rid of the ripple.  If a switching power supply is used, capacitors help to kill the high frequency noise from these.

    Capacitors are used in filter circuits which allow you to boost the bass or treble.

    There are many other ways capacitors can be used.
