Capcom bringing Monster Hunter 4 to 3DS – Video Games Update
Capcom has revealed that the fourth installment in the Monster Hunter series will be coming out exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS.
Nintendo fans worldwide will be pleased to hear that the fourth game in the Monster Hunter Series is in development for the handheld of their choice. Monster Hunter is a Japanese Role Playing Game (JRPG) where the objective is to traverse the huge world
and kill monsters. But players need to grind a lot with weaker enemies before they can level up enough to take on the challenging monster bosses.
The appeal of Monster Hunter games is that they plunge you into a large open fantasy world and you are free to explore how you see fit. Though you might have a hard time with some of the games more powerful enemies if you run into them early on and are not
levelled up accordingly. Though nothing is more rewarding than when you do finally defeat a boss which was giving you a lot of trouble before.
The trailer for the game also showcases traversing the environment vertically as you can climb mountains and high ledges as seen in the Playstation 2 game ‘Shadow of the Colossus’.
Monster Hunter is one of the best selling franchises in the Japanese market. When Capcom announced a port of its PC MMO, Monster Hunter Frontier Online, for the 360 in 2010 the Xbox 360 became the best selling console during the release month of the game.
Japan must be in love with the series for which they are willing to line-up and buy an Xbox 360, as the console is generally disliked in the country and doesn’t seem to do well, no matter what Microsoft tries.
The Monster Hunter MMO for the PC is also insanely popular in Japan and has received 14 expansions in the form of ‘Seasons’. Capcom announced that the 360 will also be getting Season Updates for the Monster Hunter Frontier Online.
The release of Monster Hunter 4 for Nintendo 3DS might also spell death for Sony’s Playstation Vita, as the handheld is already struggling in the Japanese and western markets with its lack of good games and third party support. The 3DS on the other hand
is getting killer third party exclusive games like Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Kingdom Hearts and now Monster Hunter 4.
Monster Hunter 4 is set to release for the Nintendo 3DS sometime in 2013.
