Capcom looks to make amends for embarrassing Resident Evil typo

Copies of Resident Evil Revelations for the Nintendo 3DS had a spelling mistake on the cover, which many fans found annoying and Capcom are addressing the issue.
Chances are that if gamers got their hands on the early or release versions of the latest instalment of the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil: Revelations, than they probably found a blaring spelling mistake on the cover.
Instead of the title reading, ‘Revelations’ a goof-up by someone at Capcom resulted in the title reading, ‘Revelaitions’.
One can be near certain of the fact that the person who made the gaffe is looking for a new job, or if Capcom were kind, sent to take some Basic English classes or taught how to use the ‘F7’ button to run an auto spell check.
A spokesperson from Capcom posted in the company’s Unity Blog where he, firstly, acknowledged the mistake, “As you may well have heard by now, the title of Revelations is indeed misspelled on the spine of the game box (as “Revelaitions”).”
Chances are that even if anyone had not noticed the typo, they probably will now. He continued to explain that the initial shipment to North America would have the same issue.
“Unfortunately, the initial North American shipment of the game will reflect this error, but we just got confirmation that subsequent shipments of the title are being repackaged to have correct spelling.”
However, the publisher provided a solution for those gamers who find the spelling mistake too much to take. “Meanwhile, customers who have received the misspelled version can contact our Customer Service line at 650-350-6700 or by email at
mailto:accounts@capcom.com and we’ll send you a new insert for you case. So yay!”
While it is great news that Capcom is helping those gamers who have a ‘thing’ for spelling, mistakes like this on such a large scale will not bode well with the studio that brought the world iconic titles such as Street Fighter and Resident Evil.
However, at the same time any publicity is good publicity especially if it is bringing attention towards the Resident Evil series as hype continues to build up for Resident Evil 6.
