Capcom to Re-release a fighter... again – Video Games Update
There are rumours that Capcom will be announcing Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Uncanny Edition at EVO Fighting Tournament 2012.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The Fate of two Worlds was released by Capcom in February 15, 2011. The game is a crossover fighter featuring characters from Marvel Comics universe and Capcom games. The game came out on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s Playstation 3.
A Vita version has also been released.
The game was a smash hit with the fans and the critics scoring above average reviews and was nominated as the best fighting game of the year. The game was then announced for Playstation Vita and would feature 12 additional fighters.
Before the game’s release, Capcom had planned future Downloadable content in the form of new fighters and new character costumes but scrapped those plans in favour of re-releasing the game as Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (UMC3).
UMC3 included all the characters and costumes included in the Playstation Vita version and two additional characters were planned for later DLC release.
Fans were upset when Capcom announced that the additional content offered in UMC3 would not appear as downloadable content for the first game. This just shows that, like always, Capcom punishes early adopters of its fighting games.
This is even more evident as there are rumours floating around the internet that Capcom is getting ready to announce the same game for the third time with only four additional characters, two new game modes, new costumes and new moves for some characters.
The bright side is that the game will be a digital downloadable title and will only cost gamers $15 so if anyone has been waiting for the full and final version of this fighting game, the upcoming UMC3: Uncanny Edition is the one to get.
Fans should also be on the lookout for a potential new Street Fighter vs. Tekken game as the first one didn’t do so well with the critics or in the market. Capcom will probably launch it again with some DLC thrown in so that they can make back what they
have invested in the intellectual property.
