When asked why he ceased to give an opportunity to the former team captain, the Italian tactician has highlighted several reasons including that the player is going through a torrid time probably because of some psychological problems.
"Arshavin is a great talent but he has started to fade. I went to see him in London but unfortunately I have to tell you that he is no longer a player that he was used to be and I cannot call a player to the national team unless
he is beneficial to the team."
"I would be a fool if do not play Arshavin if he is in perfect shape or state of mind. Some people think that I removed him probably because of some personal reasons but the thing is that he is not performing.” The former AC Milan
boss was quoted as saying.
Earlier it was reported that Arsenal FC decided to get rid of the Russian midfielder due to lack of motivation and eagerness to prove his fitness time and again.
Arsene Wenger, in a press conference, said that the London-based club is ready to offload the Russian forward because the management thinks that the 31-year-old has no future at Emirates stadium.
The French manager wants to get rid of the Russian Cup winner as soon as possible having failed to get the best out of Arshavin despite sending him on the season long loan spell at Petrovsky stadium.
The Gunners will try to cash in on the Arshavin ahead of the summer transfer window, knowing that they will not get a penny for the winger-c*m-striker whom they reportedly paid around 15 million Euros fee should they fail to offload
him this January.
Arshavin has made six substitute appearances this season, having completed roughly 65 minutes on the pitch this season.
